Clinical exam

A clinical examination is the process by which a medical doctor investigates the body of a patient for signs of disease. A spine specialist will perform a neurological examination by checking your muscle strength, pain sensation (pin prick), light touch sensation (brush), reflexes, gait etc.. He might try to provoke your pain with specific clinical tests.
