parasitology is an independent medical specialty that studies human parasites and the diseases they cause.
Parasites can be both unicellular and multicellular organisms. They belong to 14 types of organisms: amoebae, fungi, carnivores, flatworms, roundworms, vertebrates, arthropods, and mollusks, echinoderms, chordates, and others. Fungi and other higher animals belong to the multicellular ones.
